Union of Slovak Philatelists
Dear friends of philately,
In 1937, Bratislava hosted its first major national stamp exhibition, drawing worldwide philatelic attention to Slovakia, which was then part of Czechoslovakia. Just a few years earlier, in 1926, Czechoslovakia made history in global philately as one of the founding members of the International Philatelic Federation (FIP), alongside Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, and Switzerland. The successful growth of Czechoslovak and Slovak philately culminated in a series of PRAGA exhibitions, among which PRAGA 1962 – the first-ever FIP world philatelic exhibition – will celebrate its 65th anniversary in 2027.
Allow me to introduce the upcoming Specialized World Stamp Exhibition SLOVPHILEX 2027, held under the patronage of the Ministry of Transport of the Slovak Republic and Slovenská Pošta, a.s. Our ambition is to make this exhibition a prestigious, globally significant event in every respect, taking place in July 2027 in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. The exhibition was officially approved as part of the FIP World Exhibition Program at the FIP Congress in Shanghai in December 2024 and subsequently received FEPA recognition in April 2025.
The primary mission of the exhibition is to showcase philately – the world’s most widespread collector’s hobby – to both professionals and enthusiasts in a unique format that no other collecting discipline provides: a top-tier competitive exhibition with established rules. At the same time, we would like highlight the social, historical, cultural and economic significance of philately in today’s society, as well as its role in preserving and advancing the world’s cultural heritage.
In keeping with its specialized character, the exhibition will showcase philatelic exhibits from around the world in classes of traditional philately, postal history, thematic philately, and philatelic literature. Additionally, it will feature emerging and rapidly growing classes of fiscal philately (revenue stamps) and postcards. The exhibition will also be enriched by the presentation of rare and exceptional philatelic treasures by members of elite philatelic groups such as Le Club de Monte-Carlo d’Élite de la Philatélie, Prestige Philately Club Prague, and Vindobona.
We also aim to fulfil the social mission of SLOVPHILEX 2027 by presenting Slovakia as a young, modern country, firmly embedded in both the European and global community of democratic nations. With its rich history, diverse cultural heritage, and breath-taking natural landmarks, Slovakia stands as an inviting destination. Our goal is to ensure that everyone participating in SLOVPHILEX 2027 – whether as exhibitors, representatives of national associations, co-organizing organizations and institutions, or simply visitors – feels welcomed and enjoys an unforgettable four days in Bratislava, the world’s philatelic capital, leaving with cherished memories.
We believe this exceptional upcoming event will capture your interest, and we look forward to welcoming you at SLOVPHILEX 2027.
